The average income of $8 million per year ranks Blankenship outside the top 20 highest-paid safeties

Reed Blankenship has secured a new three-year contract with the Houston Texans as NFL free agency gathers momentum.
The former Philadelphia Eagles safety agreed to a deal worth $24.75 million on Monday, March 9, 2026, marking one of the notable moves during the league’s free agency period.
Reed Blankenship played an important role in the secondary for the Philadelphia Eagles, helping the team secure the Super Bowl following the 2024 season.
Over four seasons, Blankenship appeared in 56 games, recording nine interceptions, 23 pass breakups, and 308 tackles. The 27-year-old was part of a championship defense in 2024 that ranked No. 1 in passing yards allowed (174.2 per game) and No. 2 in opponent scoring (17.8 points per game).
Originally an undrafted free agent from Middle Tennessee State University in 2022, Blankenship worked his way from the roster bubble to becoming a regular contributor in Philadelphia. He started four games during his rookie season before taking on a larger role over the following three years.
