Royal Family gathers at Westminster Abbey as King Charles delivers thoughtful address

King Charles is managing increasing scrutiny over the royal line of succession and the future role of Prince Andrew.
Communications expert Lynn Carratt says the monarch is quietly holding “strategic conversations” aimed at ensuring the long-term stability of the Crown.
Her remarks come amid rising political pressure over whether Prince Andrew should remain in the line of succession following his arrest last month.
The issue has reached Westminster, where MPs questioned ministers about potential legislative action. Changing the order of succession would require an Act of Parliament, and UK Defence Minister Luke Pollard confirmed that the government has been in contact with Buckingham Palace while exploring possible options.
The royal family gathered at Westminster Abbey on March 9 for the annual Commonwealth Day service, where King Charles delivered a message reflecting on a world facing both “great challenge and great possibility.”
Carratt noted that despite the intensifying political debate, the King is unlikely to disclose his personal views. As a constitutional monarch, Charles must remain neutral and cannot publicly support or oppose legislation concerning a family member.
Instead, she believes he will continue working discreetly with advisers and legal experts behind the scenes, ensuring any constitutional actions are managed carefully and without unnecessary controversy.
Currently, the official succession list places Prince William first in line to the throne, followed by his children, with Prince Harry next in order.
