‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ star delivers disappointing news amid fan hopes for a reboot
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot is officially off.
Sarah Michelle Gellar confirmed that the long-awaited project, set to arrive more than two decades after Buffy’s final episode, will not be moving forward.
“I’m really sad to have to share this, but I wanted you all to hear it from me,” the 48-year-old actress said in an Instagram video posted Saturday, March 14.
“Unfortunately, Hulu has decided not to move forward with Buffy: New Sunnydale,” she added, referring to the streaming service that had backed the series and the planned title for the reboot.
