Meghan Markle’s secret message to royals as important event set to take place at Palace

Palace staff are finalizing preparations ahead of a high-profile visit to London on Tuesday.
The Royal Family is set to host its first State Visit of the year from a nation not welcomed in decades—one that also has ties to Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.
Prince William and Princess Kate are set to welcome Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Tuesday, accompanying them to Windsor Castle where King Charles and Queen Camilla will receive the dignitaries.
The visit marks a historic occasion, as it will be Nigeria’s first State Visit to the UK in 37 years. While the event strengthens diplomatic ties, it also highlights what might have been an added layer of engagement had Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remained working royals.
The Duchess of Sussex revealed in 2024 that she is 43% Nigerian, describing the discovery as “humbling” during a visit to the African nation.
Interestingly, as preparations for the Nigerian delegation were underway, Meghan shared a subtle message through her brand, As Ever.
“A warm welcome, always,” Meghan wrote alongside a photo of an As Ever door tag.
It’s unclear whether the message was aimed at the Royal Family, as Meghan was aware that a Nigerian State Banquet would take place at Windsor Castle without her presence.
The UK and Nigeria continue to be key partners in trade, aid, and defense, while London hosts a large Nigerian diaspora. Meghan’s gesture, subtle yet meaningful, offered a unique and appreciated nod to the historic occasion.
