Security Forces Foil Major Terror Plot in Balochistan, Female Suicide Bomber Arrested
Security forces in Balochistan successfully prevented a major terror attack by arresting a 19-year-old female suicide bomber in a timely operation. Authorities say the intervention averted a potentially devastating attack and saved many innocent lives.
Officials reported that the operation was carried out using human intelligence, leading to the apprehension of the suspected bomber.
Sarfaraz Bugti praised the security personnel for their swift action and thanked the people of Balochistan for providing crucial information, saying the operation helped avert a major tragedy.
Suspect Details Recruitment and Radicalization
The arrested woman, identified as Laiba from Tehsil Zehri, revealed that terrorists manipulated her mindset and trained her for a suicide mission. She stated that she had been instructed to recruit other girls for similar activities.
Laiba said she was apprehended before carrying out the attack and urged other girls to stay away from such acts. She also mentioned that a figure known as “Commander Ibrahim” had influenced her involvement.
CM Bugti Condemns Terrorist Exploitation of Baloch Women, Praises Security Forces
Sarfaraz Bugti said terrorists are exploiting Baloch women and pushing society toward a “futile war” under the banner of Balochism. He criticized Bashir Zeb and his associates, accusing them of damaging the respect of women and questioned, “Where are they trying to take society in the name of Balochism?”
The CM stressed that Balochistan has a responsible government and security apparatus, noting that Laiba had been manipulated to act against Pakistan. Speaking at a press conference in Quetta, Bugti congratulated security forces for the successful operation and highlighted that the people of Balochistan are actively sharing sensitive information with authorities. He described the revival of human intelligence as a “major success.”
Bugti claimed over 1,000 terrorists have been trained against Pakistan and alleged that Afghanistan serves as a safe haven for such elements. He assured that those involved in terrorism would face action, and refugees would be repatriated with dignity.
Exploitation of Social and Domestic Factors
The chief minister revealed that Laiba had been married twice, and her domestic situation was exploited to influence her. Her cousin was also reportedly a member of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).
“Terrorist organizations target youth in universities, educational institutions, and online,” Bugti said, warning that young minds are being misled. He confirmed that Laiba is cooperating with authorities and assured that radicalized individuals will be guided back onto the right path, adding that she was not subjected to any harassment during detention.
Bugti emphasized long-term solutions, including employment and education, as part of the state’s efforts to establish its writ. He noted that over 12,000 teachers have been recruited, merit-based hiring has been implemented in the Balochistan Constabulary, and youth are being provided job opportunities. Women-led initiatives, including special centers and lady police, will address women’s concerns through dialogue.
Warning Against Violence
The chief minister cautioned that continued violence only leads to loss of lives and disruption. “If Laiba had carried out the suicide attack, how many families would have been destroyed?” he asked, stressing that nothing is gained from such conflict.
Federal Government Response
Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar praised security forces for the operation and confirmed the arrests of Laiba and her cousin. Speaking to Samaa TV, he accused BLA members of living comfortably abroad while exploiting vulnerable girls in Balochistan.
Tarar said terrorist groups are using psychological manipulation to recruit women and that the narrative of “missing persons” has been exposed, signaling a decline in militant influence. Authorities reiterated that the Baloch people are proud and do not support terrorism.
Both provincial and federal leaders emphasized the importance of awareness, cooperation, and unity to counter extremist narratives and ensure lasting peace in the region.
