The federal government on Thursday urged citizens to adopt fuel-saving practices to help ensure the continued availability of petrol and diesel in the coming days.
The appeal came during a meeting in Islamabad chaired by Shehbaz Sharif, which focused on implementing fuel conservation and austerity measures amid the rapidly worsening regional situation.
Officials stressed the need for preparedness to handle any possible scenario, with strategies to be adjusted as circumstances evolve.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of carpooling and shared transportation, discouraging unnecessary travel and urging people to limit commuting to conserve fuel.
In his remarks, the prime minister instructed all relevant departments to remain on alert and prepared to take emergency measures until conditions improve.
He stated that the policy of austerity and conservation has allowed the government to provide relief to the public.
The meeting was briefed that sufficient reserves of petroleum products are available to meet national demand, with additional arrangements underway.
Officials noted that due to the unstable situation in the Middle East and surrounding regions, which could significantly impact fuel supply, further conservation measures may be necessary in the coming days.
Shehbaz Sharif directed that, in coordination with the provinces, a comprehensive plan be developed to tackle any potential emergency situation.
