PML-F leader Sardar Abdul Rahim has condemned the Sindh government over the outbreak of a mysterious skin disease in Khairpur, which has claimed the lives of at least nine children. He urged the authorities to declare a health emergency, deploy specialist medical teams, and implement immediate preventive measures.

KHAIRPUR: On Sunday, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Sindh Secretary General Sardar Abdul Rahim expressed grave concern over the outbreak of a mysterious skin disease affecting children in Khairpur district, accusing the Sindh government of gross negligence in handling the crisis.
Rahim stated that at least nine children have died so far, according to media reports, while the provincial authorities have yet to take effective measures to control the outbreak.
He also criticised the District Health Officer in Khairpur for making what he described as an irresponsible statement, suggesting that the children would likely recover soon, even as parents were reportedly being turned away from hospitals due to lack of treatment.
According to Rahim, samples from eight affected children were sent to Karachi for testing, but no results have been received, highlighting what he called the incompetence of the health department. He added that the authorities have not yet confirmed whether the illness is chickenpox or monkeypox, even as fatalities rise.
The PML-F leader called for an immediate health emergency in the affected areas, demanding the deployment of specialist medical teams without delay and strict action against officials found negligent.
He warned that if urgent vaccinations and preventive measures are not implemented and the disease spreads to other districts, the Sindh government will be held fully responsible.
Expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, Rahim urged the federal government and the World Health Organization to intervene and assist in containing the outbreak to protect vulnerable communities.
