HYDERABAD: Fahad, the son of the late Saira Naseer, a provincial women’s wing leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F), has been taken into custody after police reportedly found “incriminating evidence” against him, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hyderabad Pir Mohammad Shah told a private media outlet on Thursday.
Earlier this month, Naseer’s charred body was discovered inside her burnt car and later identified by her daughters through her rings. Police believe she was murdered before the vehicle was set ablaze.
According to her husband, Zaheer Naseer, SSP Shah summoned the family—including Zaheer, Fahad, and their two daughters—to his residence late Wednesday night. Following an interrogation, Fahad was detained while the rest of the family was asked to leave. Station House Officer (SHO) Ibrahim Soomro was reportedly present during the proceedings.
Zaheer added that the SSP had promised to personally return Fahad to their home, but the family waited until 2 a.m. Thursday with no word. When they returned to the SSP’s residence, they were informed that Fahad was not there.
The SSP maintains that evidence against Fahad was found and is expected to provide further details during a press conference later in the day.
