Rasheed lauded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir for their historic diplomatic efforts in helping forge a truce between the United States and Iran, calling it a significant achievement in advancing peace and stability.

Former federal minister Senator Pervaiz Rasheed stated on Wednesday that former Prime Minister Imran Khan had intended to appoint a preferred candidate to extend the army chief’s tenure. However, the merit-based selection of Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir has clarified the matter.
Speaking in the Senate, Rasheed added that Pakistan now commands respect on the global stage, with world leaders commending the country’s standing.
He recalled that during former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s tenure, the economy was growing, yet his government faced street protests.
Rasheed added that Pakistan, which recently helped mediate between the US and Iran, has also played a role as a mediator between the US and China.
He said this diplomatic involvement underscores the country’s long-standing contributions to regional and global peace, and he congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their efforts.
Rasheed emphasized that the world continues to recognise Pakistani leadership’s capabilities, highlighting the nation’s role in preventing conflict and promoting stability.
He concluded on a lighter note, noting that after recent unseasonal rains, today’s clear skies symbolize joy and optimism.
