Right-arm pacer Blessing Muzarabani withdrew from the PSL after opting to join IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders instead.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a two-edition ban on Zimbabwean pacer Blessing Muzarabani from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after he withdrew from the tournament at the last moment.
In an official statement, the board said, “Following a thorough disciplinary review, the PCB has announced that Zimbabwean cricketer Blessing Muzarabani is declared ineligible to participate in the next two (2) editions of the PSL, effective immediately.”
Blessing Muzarabani was initially scheduled to represent Islamabad United in PSL 2026 but withdrew after signing with Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reiterated its commitment to maintaining high professional standards and ensuring strict adherence to contractual obligations within the PSL.
In its statement, the PCB said the decision was taken due to a clear breach of agreed commitments, noting that such actions weaken the professional structure of the league. It added that cricket at the franchise level is built on trust and binding agreements, which must be respected once finalized.
The board further explained that when key terms such as remuneration and contract structure are confirmed in writing, they create a binding obligation. Backing out without a valid reason, it said, violates both contractual duties and the principles of good faith that govern professional sport worldwide.
Previously, Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka and Australia’s Spencer Johnson had also withdrawn from the PSL to join IPL franchises.
The PCB stressed that professionalism in franchise cricket demands transparency and consistency. It warned that entering conflicting agreements while already bound by an existing contract undermines trust and damages confidence among franchises, regulators, and other stakeholders.
