The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that high-level civil and military leadership meetings focused on regional security and the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement.

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, concluded a three-day official visit to Iran, during which he underscored the importance of dialogue, de-escalation, and peaceful resolution of disputes amid the ongoing regional tensions involving the United States.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, Field Marshal Munir was accompanied by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and a delegation as he held high-level meetings with Iranian leadership during the visit.
The visit to Iran formed part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to convert the two-week ceasefire between Tehran and the United States into a durable peace agreement.
Asim Munir called on Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian and also held separate meetings with Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Commander of the Khatam-ul-Anbiya Headquarters Major General Ali Abdollahi.
The discussions centred on promoting sustainable peace in the region, with a focus on the evolving security situation, ongoing diplomatic initiatives, and joint efforts to support long-term stability.
During the meetings, the army chief reiterated “the need for dialogue, de-escalation, and peaceful resolution of outstanding issues through sustained diplomatic engagement.” He also conveyed “sincere regards and best wishes” from Pakistan’s leadership and people to their Iranian counterparts, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening historic and brotherly relations between the two countries.
Field Marshal Munir expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended by the Iranian leadership and people throughout the visit.
The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations, said the visit reflected Pakistan’s “unwavering resolve” to support a negotiated settlement of the Middle East conflict and to promote peace, stability, and prosperity across the region.
Pakistan had earlier facilitated talks in Islamabad on April 11, following a two-week ceasefire brokered on April 8 with the support of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
During the recent Islamabad talks, Field Marshal Munir played a central role, receiving both delegations upon their arrival.
It is also noted that former US President Donald Trump has at times referred to CDF Munir as his “favourite field marshal,” following diplomatic interactions during efforts to ease tensions between Pakistan and India last year.
