Ryan Reynolds says he has “never been more proud” of his wife in his life

Ryan Reynolds has come out with a strong and heartfelt defense of his wife, Blake Lively, as their widely publicized legal dispute with Justin Baldoni continues to unfold. He dismissed claims that the lawsuit has harmed her reputation in Hollywood.
Speaking to Willie Geist during a live recording of Sunday Sitdown, the 49-year-old Deadpool actor said he has never felt prouder of anyone.
“I’ve never been more proud of anyone in my life—her integrity shows in everything she does and carries through in every situation,” he said.
Asked how they’re dealing with the aftermath, Reynolds responded calmly but firmly.
“People don’t really know what’s going on behind the scenes. You start to see the gap between perception and reality—the difference between what plays out online and what’s actually happening in real life.”
His remarks pushed back against a surge of negative headlines about Lively, including a report citing an anonymous Disney executive who claimed the lawsuit had damaged her standing in Hollywood and described her as having a reputation for being difficult. The same report also suggested the couple were considering a move to the UK to help her rebuild her career.
Lively filed suit against Baldoni in December 2024, accusing him of sexual harassment and retaliation tied to their work on It Ends With Us. Baldoni denied the claims and responded with a $400 million countersuit, which was dismissed in June.
Earlier this month, a federal judge threw out ten of Lively’s thirteen claims—including the harassment allegations—on procedural grounds, though her retaliation claim is still set to go to trial on May 18.
Addressing the decision on Instagram, Lively said legal action was never her first choice.
“The last thing I wanted was a lawsuit,” she wrote. “But I felt I had no option after facing ongoing retaliation for privately and professionally asking for a safe working environment—for myself and others.”
With settlement discussions failing, the case now appears headed for a courtroom showdown next month.
