Dark Cherry could be the newest standout color in Apple’s lineup, following the introduction of Cosmic Orange on the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max last year.

Would a “Dark Cherry” iPhone suit your style? According to the latest Apple rumors, it may soon become a reality with the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
Apple’s annual color lineup typically shifts each year, but its premium Pro models have often stuck to classic shades like black and white. However, in recent years, the company has begun experimenting with bolder finishes, including the striking Cosmic Orange introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max last year.
Now, Apple appears to be expanding its palette even further. According to reports from Macworld, and citing an unnamed source within Apple’s supply chain, the company is preparing a new “Dark Cherry” finish alongside three other colors for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. The rumored options include Light Blue (Pantone 2121), Dark Cherry (Pantone 6076), Dark Gray (Pantone 426C), and Silver (Pantone 427C).
The “Dark Cherry” rumor has not been confirmed, but it does appear to align with claims from other well-known Apple insiders. Earlier this month, Mark Gurman reported that Apple may be working on a dark red iPhone, which seems to be in a similar color range. He also noted speculation about additional color options, including purple and brown variants.
Unfortunately, the rumored foldable iPhone—which has not yet been confirmed—is not expected to include “Dark Cherry” as a color option, according to Macworld’s source.
Apart from the bold new finish, the upcoming iPhone is expected to look largely similar to current models on the outside, with only subtle design changes. CAD renders shared with Macworld suggest a reduced gap between the rear glass cutout and the camera bump. The source also indicated that future iPhones may feature a smaller Dynamic Island, the pill-shaped area at the top of the display that houses the TrueDepth camera system used for Face ID.
Meanwhile, Apple’s experimentation with more vibrant color choices may already be showing results. Analysts from IDC told The Financial Times earlier this year that the bright orange finish used on recent iPhones went viral on Chinese social media, contributing to a 36% year-over-year increase in Apple’s sales in the region.
