Temperature-controlled vehicles and dedicated aircraft compartments to guarantee safe transport of pets

DUBAI: Dubai Airport’s cargo service has launched a new facility to assist residents in arranging the transport of pets from the United Arab Emirates, an official statement confirmed.
A dedicated team in Dubai will handle bookings and supervise the transport of animals from departure to arrival, with officials confirming that pet travel can now be arranged from all emirates.
The service ensures pets are treated with care throughout the journey, with food and water provided during transit.
Animals will travel under controlled conditions on both the ground and in the air, in compliance with international aviation regulations. Special transit areas and support teams in Dubai will continuously monitor pets during stopovers.
Pets will be transported in temperature-controlled vehicles and accommodated in designated sections of the aircraft, typically loaded last and unloaded first upon arrival.
Officials noted that certain dog and cat breeds are subject to transport restrictions and may only travel under specific conditions.
The service categorizes pets based on their country of origin. Animals from general countries, including Pakistan and about 20 others, must be at least 15 weeks old to travel. Pets from higher-risk countries — such as Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Comoros, and Nigeria — must be at least 27 weeks old.
Authorities emphasized that these measures are designed to safeguard the safety and welfare of animals during international travel.
