The military’s media wing said intelligence-based operations were conducted in Bara (Khyber District) and Bannu

Security forces killed 13 India-backed terrorists in two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.
The military’s media wing said the operations were conducted in Bara, Khyber District, and Bannu after reports of terrorist presence.
In the operation in Bara, security forces effectively engaged the militants’ hideout, killing 10 terrorists after an intense exchange of fire.
In a separate operation in Bannu District, three more terrorists were neutralised.
The ISPR said sanitisation operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored militants in the area. It added that the counter-terrorism campaign under the vision “Azm-e-Istehkam” will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Since the Afghan Taliban took power in Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in cross-border terrorist incidents, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
In response, Pakistan launched “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq,” during which around 684 Afghan Taliban operatives and affiliated militants were killed. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said more than 900 militants were injured, while 252 checkposts were destroyed.
The two countries also experienced border clashes in October 2025 after unprovoked attacks by Afghan Taliban fighters and militants on Pakistani posts. The clashes resulted in the deaths of over 200 militants, while 23 Pakistani soldiers were martyred.
Despite multiple rounds of talks, both sides have yet to reach an agreement, largely due to the Afghan Taliban government’s reluctance to act against militant groups.
