Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai Urges People to “At Least Check the Facts”

Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai has reaffirmed her condemnation of what she described as the ongoing Israeli genocide in Palestine.
Speaking on a podcast hosted by singer and education activist Shehzad Roy, Malala stated: “I had said in October 2023 that Israel is committing genocide in Palestine.”
She made the comments while addressing criticism on social media accusing her of remaining silent on the issue, emphasizing that she has publicly labelled Israeli actions in Palestine as “genocide.”
Malala added that despite her posts on social media about Palestine, some critics continue to claim she has stayed quiet.
According to Gazan health authorities, Israel’s two-year military campaign has resulted in over 72,000 Palestinian deaths, mostly civilians, while also causing widespread famine, destruction of infrastructure, and repeated displacement of the population.
Malala cited another example to illustrate her responsiveness, noting her swift condemnation of a deadly strike on Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ school in Minab, Iran, last month, which killed over 175 children and teachers.
She lamented that misinformation persists, with some continuing to claim she has not spoken out. “My small hope is that people at least check the facts,” she said.
