The As Ever founder recently ended her partnership with Netflix, just 11 months after launching her lifestyle brand. The decision came as a surprise, though both the Sussexes and the streaming giant insisted that it was amicable, with no hard feelings on either side.
Reports soon surfaced suggesting that Netflix had grown weary of the Sussexes and their “repackaged” narrative, which the company found increasingly exhausting—despite CEO Ted Sarandos having previously praised Meghan.
A new report claims that Meghan, who has maintained a poised public image, is finding it “increasingly difficult to keep up the charade.”
An insider told Heat that the Duchess of Sussex is refusing to accept defeat. She is “demanding a face-to-face meeting with Ted” and is actively working to salvage the situation, especially as the Sussexes still have other deals in the pipeline with Netflix.
Meghan insists that their “reputation is taking a hit,” and she is frustrated that, in her view, no one is stepping in to defend them—a situation she finds “pretty appalling.” After all, there’s no denying that Harry and Meghan brought Netflix significant publicity.
Sources say that while the Sussexes’ partnership brought Netflix plenty of publicity, it also caused “a lot of headaches,” which the company had tolerated at the time.
Meanwhile, Ted Sarandos finds himself in a “difficult” and “embarrassing” position, making it harder to publicly support the couple. He had hoped to resolve the matter quietly, but that did not happen.
Despite the business challenges, Ted has no issue with his wife maintaining her friendship with Meghan. There is “no vendetta,” but he prefers to stay “under the radar” and avoid any drama.
Meghan appears to be using this as leverage, requesting a meeting with Ted to try and protect the Sussexes’ brand reputation—especially with their high-profile trip to Australia on the horizon.
