“Since the PSL began, Lahore Qalandars have been my dream and favourite team, and this is now my second year with them,” said Naeem.

KARACHI: For Mohammad Naeem, representing Lahore Qalandars is more than just a franchise opportunity — it is the realisation of a dream that began when the Pakistan Super League first inspired him.
Now in his second season with the Qalandars, Naeem reflects on a journey built on opportunity, belief, and hard work. “First of all, I thank Allah for being part of such a great franchise,” he said. “Since the PSL started, Lahore Qalandars were my dream and favourite team, and now this is my second year here.”
At the core of his development lies a simple yet powerful element: trust.
In a tournament where pressure often shapes performances, Naeem has been given rare freedom. Supported by a management that values confidence over criticism, he steps onto the field without burden. “The management has taken all the pressure away from me,” he said. “They’ve given me a free hand to go out, play my game, and do what I feel is right without fear.”
That liberty has helped him evolve into a more expressive batter, one who trusts his instincts and embraces his natural game. Yet behind his attacking intent remains a grounded mindset.
“Every batter has personal goals,” Naeem explained, “but as a Qalandar, my only goal is that whatever innings I play should contribute to the team’s win.”
His rise has also come through sacrifice and persistence. Like many young cricketers, Naeem’s journey is shaped by long hours of hard work, discipline, and belief. “There is a lot of hard work and sacrifice behind this,” he said. “Without passion and dedication, it’s not possible to reach this level. That hunger and madness to achieve something is what brings you closer to your goals.”
Inside the Lahore Qalandars dressing room, learning remains constant. Surrounded by senior players and international stars, Naeem has found an environment that feels more like family than hierarchy.
“Every young player wants to share a dressing room with big names and international stars,” he said. “But here it doesn’t feel like that — it feels like a family. We don’t feel any pressure sitting with big players, and that’s why we enjoy it and learn so much.”
As the PSL season continues, Naeem remains focused on the bigger picture. There are no personal milestones in mind — only a collective goal.
“I haven’t set any individual targets,” he said. “My only aim is to help Lahore Qalandars win another trophy, no matter how that happens.”
