According to Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, a total of 14 mpox cases have been confirmed across the province this year, including 12 in Khairpur and two in Karachi.

She further stated that five of the nine affected children in Khairpur had died, clarifying that mpox was not the direct cause of death, as the children were already weak and suffering from malnutrition.
Experts have warned that one of the confirmed mpox cases this year indicates possible local transmission.
The Sindh Health Department has set up isolation wards in major and district headquarters hospitals across the province.
Mpox testing is being carried out free of charge at Aga Khan University Hospital and the Dow University of Health Sciences, while patients are required to remain under observation for at least 24 hours.
