The President and Prime Minister extended their greetings to the nation on this auspicious occasion, calling for unity, resilience, and harmony among the people.

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across Pakistan today with great religious zeal and enthusiasm. Congregational prayers were offered at mosques, Eidgahs, and open spaces, where sermons emphasized the spiritual significance and purpose of the festival, along with calls for unity and peace amid ongoing Middle East tensions.
The day begins with large gatherings for Eid prayers in open areas, bringing families and friends together for worship and celebration.
Eid marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, one of the five pillars of Islam, and highlights acts of charity, encouraging Muslims to support those in need during the festivities.
Celebrations start in the morning as men attend prayers at mosques and public venues. Families then dress in festive new clothes, visit relatives and friends, and exchange greetings of “Eid Mubarak,” sharing joy and strengthening social bonds.
Gift-giving and charity play a key role in the celebrations. Children excitedly receive “Eidi,” a traditional gift of money, and look forward to shopping for new clothes. Families also fulfill their obligation of Zakat ul Fitr by donating food or money to those in need. Traditional sweets and special festive dishes are an important part of the Eid celebrations.
Special prayers were offered for the country’s progress, prosperity, and the welfare of the Muslim Ummah.
President calls for renewed commitment to unity
President Asif Ali Zardari said that Eid represents the reward for the worship, patience, piety, and sacrifice shown during the month of Ramadan.
He stated that the day encourages believers to begin a renewed spiritual life, embracing Allah’s mercy and forgiveness with a deep sense of devotion and humility.
Quoting the Holy Quran, he said: “O you who have believed! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may become righteous.” He added that the core message of Eid is piety, self-accountability, and moral purity.
Referring to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), he noted that fasting during Ramadan with faith and the hope of reward leads to forgiveness of past and future sins, highlighting the spiritual significance of the occasion.
This day reminds us that true success lies in putting the teachings of Ramadan into practice. Values such as patience, tolerance, compassion, justice, and brotherhood not only shape a virtuous individual but also help build a strong and united nation,” he said.
He further noted that Eid-ul-Fitr promotes love, brotherhood, and social harmony, encouraging people to share their happiness with the needy, orphans, and underprivileged, while strengthening a sense of social responsibility.
He stressed the importance of renewing commitment to national unity, constitutional supremacy, and the rule of law, emphasizing that the development, stability, and prosperity of Pakistan are a shared responsibility.
He added a prayer that Allah Almighty may help the Muslim world face regional challenges while preserving unity and ensuring global peace, and that Pakistan may be blessed with peace, security, and stability, advancing together with unity and consensus.
Prime Minister calls for harmony and unity
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended warm Eid greetings to Muslims in Pakistan and around the world, describing the day as a manifestation of Allah’s mercy and grace.
He said that Eid is a time of gratitude after the worship and discipline of Ramadan, and prayed that Allah accept the devotion of Muslims and help them implement Islamic values in their daily lives. He added that Eid symbolizes patience, perseverance, sacrifice, unity, and collective responsibility.
He emphasized the need to share Eid’s joy with vulnerable segments of society and highlighted government efforts, including the digital wallet system, aimed at providing dignified financial assistance to those in need. He noted that collective responsibility and cooperation are key to national progress and prosperity.
Expressing sorrow over the suffering of people in Gaza and other conflict-affected regions, he said their plight highlights the urgent need for greater unity within the Muslim world to promote justice, dignity, and lasting peace. He stressed that unity remains the greatest strength in times of global instability.
He prayed for stronger bonds of brotherhood within the Muslim Ummah and for collective efforts toward the betterment of humanity, while also praying for global peace, security, stability, tolerance, and brotherhood.
