According to a source, efforts are currently being made to arrange a second round of talks within this crucial timeframe.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has stepped up diplomatic efforts to restart negotiations between the United States and Iran following the conclusion of the first round of talks in Islamabad without a breakthrough, The News reported, citing a senior Pakistani source.
The initial round ended without a formal agreement, although officials from both sides presented their respective positions publicly. Despite the lack of progress, Pakistani officials remain cautiously hopeful about the possibility of continued engagement.
A senior source said Pakistan is in active contact with both Washington and Tehran, urging the two sides to resume dialogue as soon as possible.
The main goal, the source added, is to reach a workable understanding before the current ceasefire — set to expire around April 22 — ends, in order to prevent a possible return to hostilities. “We want to wrap it up before the deadline,” the source said, stressing the urgency of the situation.
The source also revealed that efforts are underway to arrange a second round of talks within this critical window. These diplomatic moves are being carried out under the prime minister’s direct instructions, highlighting the importance Islamabad places on the issue.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir are reportedly leading the initiative, having played a key role in facilitating the initial engagement between both sides.
According to the source, both officials have been working continuously, including through “sleepless nights,” to keep the process moving forward.
Pakistan has already conveyed its call for renewed engagement to both parties and is now awaiting their response. Officials remain hopeful that momentum can be restored quickly to avoid escalation and secure a diplomatic solution within the limited timeframe.
Despite ongoing challenges, Islamabad’s active mediation reflects its commitment to promoting peace and preventing conflict.
