Asim Khan will join fellow Pakistanis Noor Zaman and Muhammad Ashab Irfan at the prestigious event

Pakistan’s rising squash star, Muhammad Asim Khan, triumphed over Malaysia’s Joachim Chuah in a thrilling final to win the World Championship Qualifying Event–Asia in Hong Kong on Saturday.
The victory secured Asim’s place in the PSA World Championships 2026, set to take place from May 8 to 16 in Giza, featuring the world’s top squash players competing for a total prize purse of $700,000.
In a gripping five-game final lasting 82 minutes, Asim battled fiercely to secure a hard-fought 3-2 victory. The match scores were 11-3, 13-11, 9-11, 3-11, and 12-10, showcasing a dramatic contest from start to finish.
Asim started the summit clash in spectacular fashion, taking the first two games 11-3 and 13-11. However, Chuah mounted an impressive comeback, winning the next two games to force a decisive fifth.
In the decider, Asim remained composed under pressure and narrowly clinched the match 12-10, securing a highly rewarding victory that saw him join fellow Pakistanis Noor Zaman and Muhammad Ashab Irfan in qualifying for the mega event.
The 29-year-old began his World Championship Qualifying Event – Asia campaign with a commanding 3-0 win over Japan’s Naoki Hayashi, earning a place in the quarter-finals. He then faced Hong Kong’s Chi Him Wong in a tightly contested match, emerging 3-2 victorious to reach the semi-finals. There, he faced Ming Hong Tang and once again prevailed 3-2 to secure his spot in the final.
