Warwick Davis shares how Prince William reacted as he asked a simple question about honours

Prince William recently conducted an investiture ceremony, where he had the honour of presenting an OBE to Warwick Davis, renowned for his roles in Harry Potter and Star Wars.
The 56-year-old actor was recognised for his outstanding contributions to drama as w
ell as his charitable work with Little People UK
Prince William received praise from Warwick Davis after the future King crouched down to his level to engage in conversation during the investiture ceremony.
In a video released by Kensington Palace, Davis recounted their exchange and Prince William’s surprising reaction to his question.
“The Prince of Wales said to me today, ‘Have you got one of these already?’ I said no, no,” Davis explained. “I worried that if I said yes — ‘Well, you’re not having this one’ — but he said, ‘I’m really surprised, I thought you had one already. You should have had one years ago,’ which is really nice.”
In the video, Warwick Davis opened up about his experience growing up as a “little person,” explaining that he always felt the need to be “a lot louder, a lot funnier than all [his] friends.”
“I think when you grow up as a little person, you don’t want to get forgotten about in the playground,” he shared. “I think that kind of trained me for performance. I didn’t really want to be an actor; I just kind of came into it through my grandmother.”
At age 11, Davis, a “massive fan” of Star Wars, learned from his grandmother about a casting call for little people — an opportunity that began his “journey into that galaxy far, far away.”
Reflecting on his charitable work, he said, “It’s really wonderful to see people come together, who only have one thing in common, to share stories, worries, and joys.”
He added, “Someone with dwarfism is exactly the same as anyone else except they’re in a smaller body. They have the same dreams, same goals, same desire for love and happiness.”
