The Sindh government has declared a two-day holiday for the Christian community in observance of Easter, according to an official notification issued on Friday.
Christian employees in provincial government departments will be granted holidays on April 5 and 6 to celebrate the religious festival, the notification stated.
Christians celebrate Easter—one of the most significant festivals for the community—every year with traditional enthusiasm and religious devotion.
Special services are held at various locations, where members of the Christian community offer prayers for salvation, as well as for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
Authorities have increased security measures nationwide to ensure law and order during the celebrations.
Separately, Khawaja Salman Rafique, Punjab Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, said on Friday that comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements were being implemented across the province to maintain law and order during the Christian community’s Holy Week.
