The Gist
Geena Davis, 70, made a surprise appearance during Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella set on Friday, April 17.
Davis appeared as an older version of Carpenter, having dyed her hair blonde for the role. The weekend before, Susan Sarandon, 79, also portrayed Carpenter’s older self during the performance.
Throughout her Coachella headlining show, Carpenter has repeatedly referenced the 1991 cult classic Thelma & Louise, starring Davis and Sarandon.
In a short mid-show monologue, Davis—who is usually known for her dark brown hair—appeared sitting in a vintage car as she delivered her lines. Though brief, the cameo was fully committed, with Davis embracing her “Aunt Sabrina” character by styling her newly blonde hair in soft waves, inspired by Carpenter’s signature look.
For the rest of her look, Davis kept things understated, wearing an espresso-brown blouse paired with a delicate gold necklace and soft pink lipstick.
She was joined in the segment by Carpenter’s former Girl Meets World co-star Corey Fogelmanis, who appeared as a waiter collecting payment from her at a drive-in theater. Davis and Fogelmanis are among several surprise guests featured in Carpenter’s Coachella set this year, which has also included appearances by Will Ferrell, Sam Elliott, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Davis’s surprise appearance came just one week after Susan Sarandon, 79, portrayed an older version of Carpenter. For her cameo, Sarandon traded her auburn-brown curls for a striking blonde transformation, fully embracing her brief but memorable Coachella role.
Given the “Hollywood” theme of Carpenter’s set, both Sarandon and Davis’s appearances carried added significance. The two famously starred together in the 1991 cult classic Thelma & Louise, where they also sported blonde hairstyles. In tribute to Carpenter’s concept, both actresses adopted blonde looks for their cameos, echoing the honey-toned styles they wore in the original film.
Carpenter has repeatedly drawn inspiration from Thelma & Louise throughout her set this year, making the appearances by Davis and Sarandon among the most memorable highlights so far. As Coachella’s final weekend continues, it remains to be seen who else Carpenter may surprise fans with next.
